Formed in Ardmore, Oklahoma in 2008 with Chad Cox, Jason Chastain, Mike Calger, Travis Edlund,
and Chris Christian completing the lineup that was the band Empire Down.
Practicing in Chad's kitchen three Fridays a month, grinding away to write material
with dreams of playing live for the metal scene of Oklahoma City.
On September 10th, 2010, tragedy struck and took Jason Chastain (R.I.P. Brother)
from this earth followed soon by the departure of Mike Calger, what was left of
the band was struggling to survive.
Determined to see it through and carry on with the previous years of hard work
and dedication, we set out to find another bassist and guitar player. Thomas
Corey was contacted about the bass position and was an instant fit. He was
full of enthusiasm and determination, writing his own bass lines to the songs
we had.
Then, one night at a local show at Big Papa's Pour House, Tony Proctor told a tale of a
guitarist named Josh Neaves in the El Reno, Oklahoma area. Josh was contacted the next
day, after which he listened to the material and was interested. So he learned a
few songs and came to jam. Again, he was an instant fit and the brotherhood
is once again complete.
With the new lineup, we feel this is where we are supposed to be: a powerhouse of
thrash riffs mixed with melodic harmonies, combined with a touch of death metal;
thunderous drums with warmth and attack, solid bass lines played with precision,
and vocals covering the range of clean and mild to the raspiest of black, and able to hit
just about anywhere in between. This is combined with superb writing skills telling
stories from fantasy to the political.
Empire Down is rising in the Oklahoma City area; take a listen and spread the word.
The metal storm of Oklahoma is coming...and "The Storm Feels No Remorse"!
